Hand of Glory has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The glazed top with a dentil cornice and a pair of pull-out candle supports, the oyster veneered base with a fall-front opening to reveal a fitted interior with drawers, pigeon holes and a sliding compartment adjacent to the leather inset writing surface, over two short and three long drawers, with chequer inlay throughout and raised on bracket feet.
With original key. The base has old repairs and veneer patching in places, the drop is missing on the handle of the central drawer but it's a lovely piece and a very unusual size.
