Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late nineteenth century, French glassmakers refined techniques for applying vitreous enamel to coloured art glass. These pieces were manufactured primarily for wealthy dressing tables and vanity sets, serving both practical storage functions and aesthetic display.

These jars were constructed from hand-blown coloured glass, commonly cobalt or Bristol blue, featuring hand-painted enamel decoration. The lids were typically mounted using hinged brass, gilded bronze, or electroplated metal collars.

Authentic period pieces display raised, hand-applied enamel paint with subtle variations, along with minor surface wear on the base or contact points. Metal mounts often show natural patination, and the glass may contain minor inclusions or pontil marks from hand production.

Antique vanity jars can be placed on a bedroom dressing table, marble bathroom counter, or decorative tray to hold small items such as jewellery or cotton wool. The rich cobalt hue creates a striking colour contrast against pale stone or dark timber surfaces.

Clean the glass gently using a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp microfibre towel. Avoid soaking the object, using abrasive cleaners, or applying water to metal hinges, as moisture can cause corrosion or damage raised enamel decoration.
