Antique English Sterling Silver Heart Shaped Box - 1896

Description

A wonderfully elegant design and a rather unusual wider shape than other heart boxes. The rim of the domed lid has a simple beaded design framing the shape of the box.

The hinged lid fits perfectly and reveals a lightly gilded interior. The hallmark is for Birmingham 1896, making this a true Victorian example. The makers initials H M for also present for the well renowned silversmith, Henry Matthews.

Excellent condition, measuring 2 3/4" x 1 3/4" x 1" tall. Weight: 36.3 Grams / 1.17 Troy Ounces.
