Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Designed during or influenced by the movement from the late 19th to early 20th century, these items feature handcrafted metalwork, stylised natural motifs, and functional forms used for measuring loose leaf tea from a caddy.

They were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, often utilising hand-chasing, piercing, or casting techniques to incorporate organic or geometric decoration onto the handle and bowl.

Authentic pieces carry British hallmarks indicating silver purity, the assay office mark, date letter, and the makers mark, alongside characteristic hand-finished details and stylised naturalistic decoration.

It can be displayed alongside traditional tea caddies on a dining room sideboard, placed on a silver tray as part of a tea service presentation, or mounted within a shadow box frame.

Clean gently using a soft cloth and specialised silver polish formulated to remove tarnish, avoiding abrasive cleansers that can damage delicate chased details or intentionally patinated areas.
