Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A gueridon is a small, circular occasional table originating in 17th-century France, supported by column legs or a tripod base. Popularised during the French Empire and Restoration periods, it was traditionally designed to hold candelabra, vases, or small decorative items.

19th-century examples frequently combine highly figured timber veneers, such as burr elm, mahogany, or walnut, with stone, slate, or marble tops. Structural features often include brass collars, gilded capitals, and triangular platform bases fitted with small castors.

Authentic period gueridons exhibit hand-cut veneer joinery, original brass hardware with natural patination, and hand-turned column legs. The underside typically reveals hand-sawn timber framing and historical construction marks consistent with 19th-century French cabinetmaking.

A gueridon functions effectively as a central focal piece in an entryway foyer, a side table beside low-profile seating, or positioned within a window bay. Its compact circular footprint allows it to anchor open floor spaces while providing a surface for books, lamps, or sculptural objects.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth, avoiding harsh chemical sprays or abrasive polishes. Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer drying or movement, checking brass fittings periodically to ensure stability.
