Solid and in good condition throughout with original pegged, tenon and dovetailed joints.
Good rich natural patina to oak and to the brass hardware.
There is a fine old shrinkage crack to the lid – centuries old and will not move further. Small knocks and dings and marks consistent with age and caring use.
With a good warm colour to the oak throughout, would work particularly well as an attractive side or lamp table and of course as a stool! And it offers useful storage.
A lovely early English oak box stool made by skilled hands in c. 1725.
