Description

A good quality early 20th century, Italian alabaster antique table lamp with carved gadroon body, rope twist detail and scrolling foliate design, standing on a square plinth base.

The lamp has a single switched bulb holder and it has been rewired, PAT tested and is in working order.

The lampshade is not included.

Height - 56 cm (22 inches)

Width - 13 cm (5 inches)

Depth - 13 cm (5 inches)

Circa - 1930

These lamps display Neoclassical proportions, hand-carved from translucent alabaster stone into forms inspired by classical Greco-Roman urns and pedestals.

Italian alabaster, a soft and translucent mineral stone, was carved on a lathe and assembled with internal metal rod supports, brass fittings, and fabric lampshades.

Authentic period examples exhibit natural stone veining, cool surface temperatures, subtle carved irregularities, and aged brass electrical or neck components.
