Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.
This is indeed quite rare, very much in the Art Nouveau or Arts and Crafts design it has tripod stand made of brass and copper which compliment each other beautifully and has a removeable solid brass font.
The shade of white opaque is finished a pale graduating pink and is finely etched with the floral pattern which is so typical of the Art Nouveau era. The shade is a later replacement but this does not detract from the beauty of the lamp at all.
It is marked with Duplex Made In England.
It has been professionally restored with the brass and copper being bright and crisp whilst retaining the patina which you would expect, it is also extremely heavy.
It measures 27" high and the base is 8.5" across.
It is in full working order and both the shade and chimney are in perfect condition.
A genuine Victorian oil lamp in the classic and elegant design which would look stunning in a period fireplace.
