Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Victorian satinwood furniture is recognised for its warm golden hue, fine grain structure, and hardwood construction. During the late 1800s, satinwood was widely favoured for bedroom furniture due to its smooth finish and reflective surface qualities.

Victorian chests of drawers were built using traditional cabinetmaking methods, including hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer linings and solid timber back panels. Cast metal or brass drop handles with decorative backplates were frequently fitted to secure wooden frames.

Authentic period pieces display period-specific joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, original period hardware, and natural signs of timber movement over time. Inspecting drawer undersides and rear casing for hand-cut saw marks also assists in verification.

Combine the warm tones of satinwood with contemporary neutral wall colours, textured ceramic objects, or minimalist lighting to balance traditional joinery with present-day design schemes. Position the chest in a bedroom or hallway as a practical focal piece.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight to prevent surface movement and finish alteration. Apply a clear beeswax polish along the grain twice yearly and dust regularly using a soft, dry cloth.
