The front is inlaid with a brass shield-shaped escutcheon which houses the working taselled key. The doors open to reveal a fully fitted interior, perfect for personal stationery.

There is a solid brass pin which is removed to allow the drawer below to be opened, this means once the doors are closed and locked that the drawer also cannot be opened. The interior of the drawer is narrow, measuring 9 3/4" x 3".
A super and unusual box, with a footprint measuring 12" x 6" and stands 9 1/4" tall at rear. Excellent condition.
