George II Drawn Trumpet Wine Glass c.1750 – Tall 17cm – Folded Foot & Air Tear
A beautiful and imposing English Georgian wine glass, dating to the mid-18th century (circa 1750).
This George II period glass is an exceptional example of the ''drawn trumpet'' form, where the bowl and stem are masterfully pulled from a single gather of glass. Standing at an impressive 17cm tall, it has a much more commanding presence than the standard smaller examples of this era.
The Bowl: A classic elegant trumpet shape with excellent clarity and period-correct striations.
The Stem: A solid plain stem featuring a perfectly centred, elongated air tear (teardrop bubble) trapped within the glass.
The Foot: A wide, conical folded foot, designed to provide stability and resist chipping—a hallmark of quality 18th-century craftsmanship.
Manufacturing Marks: The base features a sharp, authentic snapped pontil mark, confirming its hand-made, pre-industrial origin.
