Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Georgian bedside tables, produced between 1790 and 1830, typically featured functional two-tiered step designs or enclosed pot cupboards. Constructed predominantly from dark mahogany, they often incorporated turned legs, subtle galleried edges, and hinged lids concealing lower compartments.

Primary timbers included solid and veneered mahogany, frequently paired with secondary woods such as pine, oak, or chestnut for internal drawer linings and back panels. Brass fittings and hand-cut joinery were standard manufacturing components.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of hand-crafted joinery, such as uneven dovetail joints, tool marks on unexposed back surfaces, and natural age-related oxidisation in timber linings. Original brass hinges and consistent hand-planed proportions also indicate genuine 18th or early 19th-century origin.

These versatile pieces work well flanking a modern upholstered bed to add historical contrast, or placed individually as end tables beside low-profile sofas in living spaces. The upper and lower tiers accommodate reading lamps and decorative books.

Maintain mahogany timber by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year along the grain. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent timber movement or surface cracking.
