A superb early 18thc German Westerwald Wine Jug, which would have been used to import wine from Westerwald in Germany up the Rhine to Europe, the UK and beyond..it has a deeply incised ring collar and a wide ovoid central belly which has a central crowned GR above a winged cherub, with birds and floral border...the colours are of a rich and vibrant blue and manganese.... and the jug is in excellent condition....it has the unusual feature of the handle being bound in thread, which looks very original...
German C1714-20.
