Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A sifter spoon was designed in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries for sprinkling powdered sugar or spices over fruit and desserts. These spoons featured perforated bowls to allow fine distribution while catching unwanted coarse particles.

Silver gilt, also known as vermeil, consists of a solid sterling silver base coated with a thin layer of gold, typically applied via fire-gilding or electroplating techniques. This process offers the aesthetic of gold while maintaining the strength and workability of silver.

Authentic Arts and Crafts silver items frequently display hand-hammered surfaces, distinct maker marks, and stylized geometric or naturalistic motifs. Hallmarks indicating purity, location, and date of manufacture provide verification of the period and origin.

Antique sifter spoons can be displayed alongside modern tableware on a sideboard or incorporated into a curated glass cabinet display. They also serve as functional accents during formal tea service or dessert presentation.

Silver gilt should be cleaned gently using warm water with mild detergent and a soft cloth to avoid wearing away the thin gold layer. Abrasive polishes and harsh chemicals must be avoided, as they can cause permanent damage to the gilding.
