Richardsons Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Circa 1875-1908 this expertly crafted and hand-painted Chinese Guangxu punch bowl has hand-painted figural scenes within panels depicting domestic scenes of a Mandarin official’s family alternating with butterflies and rouge-pink flowers.
It’s a truly impressive large antique Chinese bowl. The centre of the interior bowl has a further scene depicting Chinese figures on a walkway. On the base of the bowl and iron-red is a Qing Guangxu six-character mark surrounded by two red concentric circles.
The condition of this piece is very good given it age, critically speaking there is wear to the gilding around the lip and a small hair line fracture on one area of the bowl which is particularly difficult to notice. I have zoomed inot this area and provided a close up on the final image shown,
