Description

A charming set of 6 antique prints form Wheatley’s the Cries of London dating from circa 1920s. Marked “The Alphalsa Publishing Co Ltd London E.C.2”. The series was produced between 1792 and 1797, documenting street traders in 18th-century London. These decorative prints are displayed in verre eglomise frames with black reverse painted surrounds and gilt line edging.

The Cries of London is a famous series of paintings produced by Francis Wheatley between 1792 and 1795, depicting street traders selling various goods in late 18th-century London.
