Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Cries of London is a famous series of paintings produced by Francis Wheatley between 1792 and 1795, depicting street traders selling various goods in late 18th-century London. The images were subsequently engraved by artists such as Luigi Schiavonetti and published by Colnaghi, becoming widely popular decorative prints across British homes.

These prints were traditionally produced using stipple engraving on handmade laid paper, which allowed for subtle tonal gradations and detailed textures. Many were hand-coloured with watercolour pigments, mounted behind verre eglomise glass borders, and set into carved giltwood or painted moulded frames.

Authentic period prints exhibit distinct plate impression lines around the border from the copper plate press and show signs of hand-applied colour washes rather than mechanical dot matrices. The paper usually displays age-appropriate foxing, laid lines, or watermarks, accompanied by fine stipple detail rather than flat lithographic printing.

A set of six prints can be arranged in a symmetrical two-by-three or three-by-two grid to create a unified gallery wall. Mounting them above a sideboard, mantelpiece, or along a staircase hallway provides historical visual balance against both contemporary neutral backdrops and traditional wood paneling.

Display the framed prints away from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent fading and paper foxing. Clean the glass carefully with a dry microfibre cloth, taking care not to allow liquid cleaners to seep behind the frame or contact delicate eglomise glass details.
