Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Regency period, spanning the late eighteenth to early nineteenth century in Britain, is characterized by classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian influences. Design elements include reeded turnings, brass mounts, symmetry, and rich hardwoods such as mahogany and rosewood.

Regency tables were primarily constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, often incorporating hand-woven cane panels, brass brassware or castors, and carved decorative details along the frieze and legs.

Authentic pieces demonstrate period joinery techniques, natural timber oxidisation, hand-turned reeded legs, and original brass hardware. Minor irregularities in hand-cut dovetails or woven cane work also signal period manufacture.

A mahogany low table acts as an anchoring centrepiece when placed alongside neutral-toned contemporary sofas and textured wool rugs. The combination of rich wood tones with modern fabrics creates a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Clean the glass surface with a damp microfibre cloth to protect the underlying cane panel from liquid spills. Apply high-grade beeswax sparingly to the mahogany timber frame to nourish the wood and maintain its natural lustre.
