Earl and Rymer has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The shelf brackets remain, and shelves could be easily reinstated. There is currently a functional set of drawers fitted to a moveable shelf sitting on the existing shelf brackets.
The front of the drawers are original, and while the casing and shelf are modern additions they are in-keeping with the piece. Other later alterations include; the base and the top of the armoire. The cornice is removable for ease of transport or lower ceiling heights.
