Papier Mâché and Straw Folk Art Study of a Duckling

This rare and unusual folk art study of a duckling is remarkable in its fine detail.

It is constructed of papier mâché which is then veneered with cut and shaped straw, which shows all of the different layered feathers. The eyes are made from glass. The feet are hand made in wire and sheet metal, and the legs have been bound with thin twine and realistically painted.

This pleasing study is mounted onto a simple painted pine base. This tactile, folk art duckling is in good original condition, English, circa 1920
