Stunning Georgian Coalport Porcelain Dessert Plate C.1805-1810

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Fancy Fox

A very lovely John Rose porcelain dessert plate of standard early lobed form, with a rich underglaze blue ground to the edge and cavetto, reserving three oval reserves and large circular central reserve. Superbly painted, complex floral arrangements fill each reserve, painted in an unusual and distinctive style, with a superb array of bright tutti-frutti enamel colours. The reserves all double framed in gilt, and the blue ground over-gilded with half-sunburst flowers, large, feathery foliage and speckled dots. Finished with a gilt rim. Unmarked, c.1800-1810.

It measures 21.6cm (8 1/2'') wide and 2.5cm (1'') high.

In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration and very minor handling wear. The underside has some fine glaze bubbling around much of the edge from firing, and some small erroneous splodges of underglaze blue as is often found on Coalport of this period.

We are now taking a few days off for Christmas, back on the 5th of January*. Wishing all our custome...
