French 19th Century Mantle Clock

19th century
Description

A fine quality 19th century French mantel clock in gilt metal, of elegant Louis XVI revival design, the case surmounted by a classical urn finial and richly adorned with crisply cast mounts and beaded detail throughout.

The circular porcelain dial with Roman numerals, set against a striking blue ground, above finely painted porcelain panels depicting delicate pastoral and mythological scenes of excellent colour and detail.

The eight-day movement has been recently serviced, is in good working order, and strikes the hours and half hours on a bell.

A refined and decorative example of French horology, offering strong visual appeal and presence.

France, circa 1860–1880

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
