Elizabeth II Silver Gilt Novelty Surprise Egg, Stuart Devlin, London

Description

A beautifully crafted silver gilt novelty surprise egg. Made in London in 1975 by the Australian silversmith Stuart Devlin (1931-2018). Devlin was famous for his silver eggs and they have become very collectable. This one has a full set of hallmarks on the base and a part set on the top. Inside the surprise is a pair of enamelled butterflies one on a spring which allows it to move. The egg is in excellent condition and is number 40 in the set of 85 and comes in its original box with a certificate.

Weight; 190 grams or 6.2 ozst approx.
