Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Norwegian guilloche enamel silverware gained prominence in the late nineteenth and mid-twentieth centuries, led by silversmiths such as David Andersen. The process involves engine-turning precise geometric patterns onto sterling silver before applying translucent vitreous enamel layers.

These pieces are crafted from sterling silver, often finished with a silver-gilt or vermeil wash to prevent tarnish. The handle decoration consists of vitreous glass enamel fused to the metal surface at high temperatures.

Authentic items carry maker marks including the David Andersen name or scales mark, alongside silver purity stamps such as 925S or 830S. Precision engine-turned pattern work beneath smooth, undamaged enamel also indicates original production.

Display the spoon on a styled tray alongside contemporary teaware or store it inside a glass vitrine on a sideboard. Compact silver items serve as delicate accents when grouped with ceramics or placed within decorative shadow boxes.

Wipe the object gently using a soft, non-abrasive cloth moistened with lukewarm water and mild detergent. Avoid submersion in water, chemical silver dips, or abrasive polishes, as these can degrade the enamel coating and strip the gilt layer.
