A fantastic and very rare pull out Mahogany pedestal table.
This is an exceptionally fine William IV Mahogany extending 1 leaf dining table, circa 1830-1835.
It represents a superb marriage of early 19th-century engineering and aesthetic restraint, allowing for a substantial dining surface without the visual clutter of additional supporting legs.

The table retains its original glazed lightly faded french polished finish which possesses a deep, honeyed colour and a richly figured grain which has acquired a wonderful patina over nearly two centuries. We have sympathetically restored, thoroughly checked, cleaned, and waxed this table in our workshop, ensuring it is in true home-ready condition . It retains all the character and "honest" charm one expects from a genuine period survivor, while being structurally beyond reproach. The table is entirely solid, with no loose joints or wobbles, remaining perfectly stable during use and is free from any signs of woodworm.

The design is supported by a bold, tapered cylindrical pedestal which transitions into a heavy, four-point incurved platform base. The craftsmanship is further evidenced in the deeply carved scroll feet , which are quite substantial and fitted with original castors, allowing the table to be moved with remarkable ease despite its solid mahogany construction.

Measuring 119cm in diameter when closed, the table opens to accommodate its leaf, extending to a generous 172.5cm oval . This table can manage to accommodate 4-6 chairs and be used as a formal dining room or even a breakfast table. The mechanism is in excellent order, ensuring the top remains perfectly flat and level when fully extended. Notably, the table retains its original brass sash fasteners , which pull the sections together with precision and provide a perfectly seamless join. With a height of 72.5cm and a clearance of 62.5cm to the underside of the frieze, it offers both elegance and practical comfort. It is a rare, versatile, and very handsome example of William IV single pedestal extending table.

This item is in outstanding restored condition as shown by the photographs however being an antique item of this age there are blemishes and scuffs here and there which we feel adds to its originality and heritage.
