Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A gueridon is a circular side or centre table originating in 17th-century France, supported by a central column or carved legs. Prominent during the French Empire and Restoration periods, these tables frequently feature marble tops and architectural mahogany pedestals.

Nineteenth-century French gueridons were constructed from mahogany timber or veneers, topped with thick grey, black, or white-veined marble slabs. Bases featured turned pedestal stems, carved acanthus leaf detailing, and lion paw feet with brass castors.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved pedestal detailing, solid timber aprons, and thick, loose marble tops with natural veining variations. Look for authentic surface oxidisation, original brass castors, and triform bases showing hand-planed joinery on the underside.

A mahogany gueridon functions as a focal point placed in an entryway foyer, beneath a chandelier, or in the centre of a reception room. Pair its dark timber and marble top with contemporary ceramics, books, or structured floral displays to balance classical proportions.

Clean the marble top using a soft cloth dampened with pH-neutral water, avoiding acidic liquids that etch polished stone surfaces. Dust the mahogany framework regularly along the grain, and apply beeswax paste annually to protect the timber.
