Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Scottish pebble jewellery became prominent during the 19th century, popularised by Queen Victorias affection for Scotland and her acquisitions at Balmoral Castle. These pieces feature locally sourced agates, jaspers, and quartz inlaid into intricate gold or silver settings.

Traditional pieces incorporate various native stones including red jasper, bloodstone, band agate, and cairngorm quartz. These stones are cut, polished, and fitted together into flush inlay patterns, held within engraved gold or silver mounts.

Authentic 19th-century examples feature hand-cut, tight-fitting stone inlays without modern epoxy resin adhesives. Look for hand-engraved scrollwork on the metal mounts, correct Victorian clasp mechanisms, and natural stones with unique banding.

An antique agate brooch or bracelet can be paired with tailored blazers, dark knits, or high-collared blouses to add texture and historical interest. Combining these warm, earthy tonalities with contemporary neutral tailoring creates a balanced aesthetic.

Clean gently using a soft, dry lint-free cloth, avoiding ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemical solvents that could loosen stone settings. Store pieces in a padded jewellery box away from moisture to protect the metal mounts.
