A lovely large vintage (possibly antique) horseshoe pendant in nine-carat gold. The pendant is solid gold, hollow inside.

Although in modern times many people think a horseshoe has to be a turned-up U shape to "keep the luck in", the traditional Victorian horseshoe points down and was considered a way to disperse any luck and protect a home rather than holding it in.

SIZE: 2.2 x 2.5cm, not including the bail.

WEIGHT: 2.0g.

MATERIALS: Nine-carat (375) gold.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: None (tested).

CONDITION: Excellent vintage/antique condition.

ERA: Estimated early-mid 20th century, possibly earlier.
