A well-crafted early 20th-century Gothic Revival oak altar table by J. & G. W. & Sons Ltd, Edinburgh. Beautifully crafted in solid oak, the table features a boldly carved frieze with the inscription “THIS DO IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME”, framed by a central foliate roundel and supported on shaped end-standards united by a decorative stretcher. The proportions are balanced and dignified, with the warm, mellow patina that only a century of devotional use can produce. Originally supplied to Caputh Parish Church, Perthshire, and part of the same furnishing scheme as the matching chairs.
