Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Georgian chests of drawers, crafted between roughly 1790 and 1830, are characterised by classical proportions, clean geometric lines, high-grade mahogany veneers, and brass hardware such as swan-neck handles.

Primary construction typically featured solid mahogany or flame mahogany veneers over oak or pine carcass wood, complemented by cast brass handles and escutcheons.

Authentic pieces generally feature hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine drawer linings with grain running from front to back, period-correct brass hardware with original fixing nuts, and natural wear patterns on the feet and drawer runners.

A Georgian chest works as a accent piece in modern hallways or bedrooms, pairing warm wood tones against neutral plaster walls or contemporary art pieces.

Maintain mahogany by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax paste once or twice a year, avoiding modern aerosol polishes or direct heat sources.
