Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian pot cupboard is a small enclosed bedside cabinet originally designed during the 19th century to discreetly store a chamber pot before modern indoor plumbing became widespread. Typically constructed with a single door and a flat top surface, these pieces remain highly functional as modern bedside tables or side storage.

Victorian bedside cabinets were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods or fine veneers such as flame mahogany, walnut, and oak. Traditional hand-cut dovetail joints, solid timber backboards, and turned wooden knobs or brass fittings were standard features of authentic period construction.

Authentic Victorian mahogany furniture usually exhibits hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut dovetail joinery, and natural age-related oxidisation on the interior wood. Period pieces often feature weightier timber construction, original wooden turnings, plinth bases, and smooth French polish finishes rather than modern spray lacquers.

An antique mahogany cabinet can be integrated into a contemporary bedroom alongside neutral textiles and modern table lamps to create a balanced, layered aesthetic. Alternatively, use it as an end table in a living area or as a compact hallway storage cabinet.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber grain. Avoid placing the cabinet in direct sunlight or near radiator heat sources to prevent timber cracking and moisture loss.
