Boulle marquetry is a decorative inlay technique named after Andre-Charles Boulle, cabinetmaker to King Louis XIV of France in the 17th century. The technique involves cutting matching scrollwork patterns from layered sheets of brass and tortoiseshell to create intricate dual-tone panels.
