Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Windsor chairs originated in England during the early 18th century, characterised by solid wood seats into which the back spindles and legs are socketed. The comb back variation features vertical spindles topped by a horizontal shaped crest rail reminiscent of a hair comb.

Regional furniture makers typically used local hardwoods such as elm for the contoured saddle seats, whilst fruitwood, ash, or beech were utilised for turned legs, stretchers, and back spindles. Joints were secured using wedged mortise and tenon joinery without reliance on metal fasteners.

Authentic 18th-century examples often exhibit hand-planed surfaces, irregular turned legs, natural timber shrinkage across grain lines, and wedged joinery visible on the seat top. Genuine patina develops in areas of frequent contact, showing authentic wear patterns consistent with age.

A set of Windsor chairs offers organic texture when paired with a contemporary minimalist dining table or modern stone surface. The sculptural silhouette creates visual interest in modern kitchens, dining spaces, or open-plan living environments.

Preserve the finish by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish annually. Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent timber movement or joint loosening.
