Peter Harris Clocks & Militaria has dated this French Military Officer Shako to the 19th Century.
The body is of leather construction over a light internal frame, as typically encountered in officer-grade shakos of this period.

The helmet retains its original leather liner of multi-tongue form, showing age-related crazing and wear consistent with mid-19th century manufacture. The exterior displays an even, undisturbed patina, with fittings remaining well-set and consistent throughout.

A scarce and highly decorative example of French National Guard headgear, presented in sound and original condition.
