Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Soda syphons gained widespread popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a modern method for dispensing carbonated water in commercial venues and private residences. The design evolved significantly in the 1930s, integrating Art Deco styling alongside protective wire casings to safely withstand internal gas pressure.

Traditional soda syphons were constructed using thick, heavy-gauge glass vessels designed to tolerate high pressures. The exterior was frequently clad in a woven wire mesh or metal lattice, topped with a chrome or nickel-plated dispensing head containing a valve mechanism.

Authentic period pieces feature heavy glass vessels, genuine metal thread mesh casings, and stamped maker marks or patents on the metal neck assembly. Wear to the chrome plating, slight oxidisation on the metal wire, and period dispensing nozzle designs also distinguish originals from modern decorative reproductions.

A vintage soda syphon serves as an architectural accessory on a dining room sideboard, cocktail cabinet, or bar cart. Grouping the syphon alongside period glassware, decanters, and metal trays creates a curated, sophisticated focal point in modern living spaces.

Clean the exterior glass and metal mesh using a soft brush and mild, non-abrasive soapy water, ensuring all metal components are dried thoroughly to prevent rust. Avoid submerging the mechanical head assembly in water, and wipe chrome plating with a clean microfibre cloth to preserve its sheen.
