A beautiful original oil on canvas in the manner of Charles Sillem Lidderdale RBA (b. 1831 d. 1895) of a young woman in a woven bonnet and patterned shawl looking back over her shoulder.Lidderdale was a British artist. He painted a series ‘peasant women’ including of a ‘fishergirl’ in similar pose but he did not sign all of his work and this painting is not signed or monogrammed. However the subject, colours, tones and brush techniques used here closely match Lidderdale’s signed paintings which reside in National Galleries worldwide.
