Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency reading tables, produced in Britain from roughly 1811 to 1830, are distinguished by classical proportions, turned central support columns, and tripod or quadrupod bases. They were designed as multi-functional furniture with adjustable or tilting tops and raised lips to secure reading materials.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency era predominantly used imported West Indian mahogany due to its fine grain, stability, and dark lustre. Inlays often incorporated contrasting veneers such as burr walnut, rosewood, or satinwood using traditional joinery methods.

Authentic Regency tables display hand-cut dovetails, brass catch mechanisms, and period-correct underside construction. Natural oxidisation of the wood, irregularities in hand-turned columns, and light wear patterns on the feet further indicate genuine historical age.

Position the table alongside a tailored armchair or sofa to serve as an accent piece or lamp stand. The compact footprint and functional design allow it to fit seamlessly into modern reading nooks, living rooms, or home studies.

Maintain the surface by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer movement and fading.
