A truly superb Victorian inlaid burr walnut kidney desk, dating to circa 1860, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and elegant mid-19th century design. The beautifully shaped kidney form is veneered in finely figured burr walnut, richly coloured and enhanced by intricate inlaid decoration that frames the top and drawers.

The writing surface is inset with a green leather panel, bordered by delicate tooling and surrounded by an exquisite marquetry band. Above, the desk is finished with a cast brass gallery, adding both refinement and practicality.

The frieze is fitted with a series of drawers, all lined in mahogany drawer linings, demonstrating the quality of construction. Each drawer retains its original turned walnut segmented knob handles, further emphasising authenticity and attention to detail.

Raised on elegant cabriole legs united by a turned stretcher, the desk is finished on all sides, allowing it to stand freely in the centre of a room — ideal for use as a writing desk, library table, or statement piece in a study or office.

A fine and highly decorative example of Victorian furniture, combining beauty, function, and craftsmanship.
