Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Rococo style wall lights feature asymmetrical scrolls, leafy acanthus motifs, cartouche backplates, and double or triple branching arms. Popularised during the 18th century and revived in the early 20th century, these fixtures emphasize fluid movement, elaborate gilded finishes, and faceted crystal dressings.

Traditional wall sconces were constructed from cast brass or bronze, which was chased by hand and fire-gilded or lacquered. The decorative pendants were crafted from lead crystal or cut glass, shaped into teardrops and suspended from delicate metal wire rings.

Authentic period sconces display hand-chased metal details, slight variations in cast backplates, and original wiring pathways or candle sockets. The glass drops typically show minor inclusions or hand-cut faceting, while the metal exhibits natural oxidisation in crevices rather than a uniform modern paint finish.

Pair gilt sconces on either side of a large chimneypiece mirror, artwork, or sideboard to create formal symmetry. They provide warm, ambient accent lighting that pairs effectively with contemporary minimalist walls or richly panelled rooms.

Clean crystal droplets individually using a soft microfibre cloth dampened with a mixture of mild detergent and distilled water. Dry the metal components thoroughly using a soft cloth, avoiding harsh abrasive polishes that could wear away the delicate gilded surface.
