The Real Wood Furniture Company has dated this Burr Walnut Writing Slope to the 1800s.

Primarily veneered in fine burr wood of wonderful colour and figure, enhanced by cross bandings and inlays incorporating finely cut engraved brass. The top section with a cartouche inlay surrounded by foliage and elegant scrolls lifts up to reveal a lidded compartment and two glass inkwells. The sloped front then folds down to reveal an original light blue velvet writing slope with tooled edging. The top part of the writing slope lifts up to give extra storage space below. Key is working and usual cosmetic wear to the velvet slope.
