We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century England, Chippendale style furniture is characterised by elaborate wood carving, pierced back splats, shaped armrests, and balanced proportions drawing influence from Gothic, Rococo, and Asian design traditions.

Hall chairs were traditionally crafted from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, utilizing mortise and tenon joinery alongside detailed hand-carving along the apron, back splat, and legs.

Authentic pieces display signs of historical craftsmanship including hand-cut joinery, subtle variations in carved details from chisel tools, natural surface wear along lower stretchers, and patination within carved recessed areas.

Positioning a carved hall chair in an entrance hall or adjacent to a console table creates a focal point, contrasting structured historical woodwork against clean modern walls.

Regular dusting with a dry microfibre cloth combined with occasional applications of clear beeswax polish helps preserve the wood finish while avoiding exposure to direct sunlight or moisture.
