Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A whiskey tot, often referred to as a whiskey noggin, originated in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras as an individual serving vessel for spirits. Designed to hold a single measure or small quantity, these items allowed hostesses and hosts to serve individual portions alongside matching silver spirit labels.

These vessels were typically crafted from clear hand-blown or cut glass, paired with solid sterling silver or silver-plated fittings. Key components include hinged silver caps, collars, and suspended engraved silver neck labels attached by fine link chains.

Authentic Edwardian pieces feature British silver hallmarks stamped onto the neck mount, lid, or label, indicating the maker, purity, assay office, and date letter. Additionally, genuine glass vessels often display star-cut bases and hand-applied glass handles with slight manufacturing variations.

Style this object on a wooden sideboard, brass bar cart, or tray alongside period glassware and decanters. Its silver mounts and cut glass work well within classical, dark academia, or modern eclectic dining and living spaces.

Clean the glass interior using warm water and mild detergent with a soft brush, avoiding full immersion to protect the silver fittings. Apply silver polish gently to the metal mounts using a soft cloth, taking care not to leave polish residue in fine engravings or joint gaps.
