Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The oval shapes are outlined with heavy beading around the rims, edges and framing the handles.
The handles are of course removable, the underside having the Bell mark (with another on the underside of the dishes) for the silversmith's Smith, Sissons & Co., 5 Eyre Street, Sheffield. The undersides are also marked " Goldsmiths' Alliance Limited / Cornhill, London " and " Best Sheffield Heavy Silver Plating ".
Both in excellent condition measuring 12 1/4" at widest x 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" tall to top of handle.
