Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian glass rummer is a large drinking vessel popular in late 18th and early 19th-century Britain, designed primarily for drinking hot toddies, punch, or spirits. These glasses typically feature a wide bowl, a short stem, and a sturdy foot or square base.

Georgian rummers were crafted from hand-blown lead glass, noted for its weight and clarity. Decorative elements were added using wheel engraving for detailed motifs and press-moulding for features such as square lemon squeezer bases.

Authentic pieces often display signs of hand production, such as faint pontil marks, minor air bubbles, or slight structural asymmetry. Features like wheel-engraved swags, monograms, and press-moulded square bases with internal ribbing are characteristic of period glassmaking.

Glass rummers can be displayed on a sideboard, drinks trolley, or within a glass-fronted cabinet to complement modern barware. They also serve as decorative accents on bookshelves or console tables when grouped with other period glass.

Antique lead glass should be hand-washed individually in lukewarm water using mild liquid soap and a soft cloth. Dishwasher cleaning, extreme temperature changes, and abrasive chemicals must be avoided to prevent thermal shock and scratching.
