Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Regency and Neoclassical seating bridges late Baroque and Classical revival styles, characterised by symmetrical frames, carved giltwood finishes, open arms with padded elbow rests, and linear architectural motifs.

Traditional construction utilises solid carved hardwood frames, typically beech or oak, finished with water or oil gilding applied over gesso, paired with woven upholstery fabrics such as silk, velvet, or damask.

Authentic period pieces display hand-carved timber joinery, traditional mortise and tenon construction, subtle wear to the gilding exposing the underlying gesso or clay bole, and hand-stitched webbing within the upholstery frame.

Position a pair of open armchairs opposite a contemporary minimalist sofa or within a formal reception room to create visual contrast between historic carved gilding and modern architectural lines.

Dust giltwood frames gently using a soft, dry camel-hair brush, avoiding water or chemical cleaning products that dissolve leaf gilding. Keep timber away from direct heat sources and engage professional conservators for fabric care.
