Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Treen refers to small, functional or decorative domestic items made entirely from timber. Turned wooden goblets were widely produced throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries before glass and ceramics became inexpensive.

Eighteenth-century goblets were turned on hand-lathes from dense hardwoods such as walnut, oak, lignum vitae, or fruitwood. The process involved shaping a single piece of timber to form the cup, stem, and base details.

Authentic pieces feature subtle hand-lathe markings, natural wood shrinkage causing slight oval deformation, and deep patination around handling areas. The joinery, underside wear, and historical graining patterns also distinguish period items from modern reproductions.

Place a pair of goblets on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or bookshelf alongside contemporary ceramics or glass to highlight textural contrast. They also serve as effective accent pieces on dining tables or inside glazed display cabinets.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft lint-free cloth and keep the timber away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity shifts to prevent cracking. Apply a thin layer of natural beeswax polish annually to nourish the wood and preserve the surface finish.
