Pair Victorian Mahogany Chairs from York Minster

19th century
Description

A pair of antique Victorian mahogany chairs dating from circa 1870 from York Minster. In mahogany, the top rails with carved edges over carved and pierced centre rails. The chairs have turned front legs and sabre back legs. The seats have been fairly recently upholstered in a red leather. Would make wonderful desk chairs or side chairs.

These chairs were purchased from York Minster, and were in St Williams College. Founded in 1460, St William’s College is a Mediaeval building in York, England, originally built to provide accommodation for priests attached to chantry chapels at nearby York Minster.
