A large Victorian transferware jug by the New Wharf Pottery & Co. of Burslem Staffordshire. The mark to the underside dates this piece to c.1878-91 (from 1891 onwards ''ENGLAND'' is generally included). The ''B'' after the initials is for the town of Burslem and the pattern name given is ''Vine''.
The overall condition is very good, with a strong colour to the pattern and no chips, marks or cracks present. Some very fine crazing to the glaze but overall a lovely example of this now rare pattern.
