Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the nineteenth century, double inkstands with central chambersticks served as complete desktop stationeries. The two wells typically held black and red ink, while the central chamberstick and snuffer provided local illumination and allowed the writer to heat sealing wax for correspondence.

Late Victorian inkstands were commonly constructed using sterling silver or silver plate for the tray, borders, and caps, paired with heavy cut glass or crystal reservoirs to hold the ink securely.

Authentic British silver inkstands bear official hallmarks stamped on the tray base, the inkwell collar caps, and the chamberstick attachments. Inspecting matching makers marks, date letters, and assay office symbols across all individual metal components helps confirm originality.

An antique silver inkstand functions as a refined accent piece on an office desk, console table, or library shelf. It adds historical texture and architectural interest when paired with leather-bound books, dark timber, or modern stationery.

Clean the silver elements using a soft, non-abrasive cotton cloth and a specialised silver polish, ensuring polish does not build up in detailed crevices. Wash glass inserts separately using warm water and mild soap, drying them thoroughly before replacing them in the silver frame.
