Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Satsuma ware refers to Japanese earthenware ceramics that feature a pale cream or ivory body with a finely crackled glaze. First developed in Satsuma province during the sixteenth century, the style expanded in the late nineteenth century into decorated export ceramics featuring polychrome enamels and gold leaf.

Satsuma pottery is constructed from low-fired earthenware clay coated with a clear, crackled lead glaze. The surface designs are painted over the glaze using mineral-based polychrome enamels and applied gold leaf before undergoing a secondary lower-temperature firing.

Authentic period pieces display a distinctive micro-crackle glaze across a yellowish-cream earthenware ground rather than pure white porcelain. They frequently feature detailed hand-painted enamelling, crisp gilding, and painted signatures or maker marks on the underside.

A decorated ceramic bowl can be displayed as a focal point on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or inside an open display cabinet. Placing the object against a neutral background allows the detailed enamel foliage and painted motifs to stand out without visual clutter.

Dust the ceramic regularly with a soft, dry camel-hair brush to prevent dust accumulation in crackle glazes. Avoid soaking or using chemical detergents, as moisture and harsh agents can compromise overglaze enamels and gilded surfaces.
