A finely crafted 19th-century Continental Silver Tea Strainer, dating to circa 1880, featuring a richly detailed lobed bowl and a beautifully turned dark wooden handle. This elegant piece would have been a refined part of any 19th-century tea service, marrying function with intricate decorative design.

The bowl is crafted in the form of a stylised flowerhead, with scalloped, fluted petals radiating around a deeply pierced interior. The hand-pierced work is especially fine, forming concentric rings of perforations within each petal and a central pierced medallion at the base, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and practical use. The generous depth and floral shaping reflect the influence of natural motifs popular in the decorative arts of the period. The handle is turned from a dense hardwood - likely fruitwood or ebonised beech - with an elegant taper and teardrop finial. Marked with a discreet European silver mark to the front of the bowl rim.
